ROBINSON RIVER
Trout fishing and Inland Ice
Close to the main gateway to Greenland, Kangerlussuaq, some of the best trout fishing in Greenland is encountered.
Here you are guaranteed to catch fish whether you spin or fly fish.
In late June the fish migrate up the rivers.
For the five days at the fishing location you stay in a camp of consisting of three-man tents, a kitchen and a dining tent (remember your sleeping bag). Apart from fishing you can hike in the amazing nature, meet musk ox and reindeer - or just enjoy life in the camp. Here the guide makes sure that there is food for the hungry anglers and hot coffee in the pot.
You arrive to Kangerlussuaq on Monday and will be shown to your cozy quarters in the Old Camp hostel. Here you find good beds with two bunk beds and clean bed linen.
The next day you are taken to the harbour and sailed out though the beautiful fiord. You land at the camp, which is ready for you to move in and start preparing your fishing tackle.
Our guides take care of the practical things, but it is customary that everybody gives a hand around in the camp.
You can instantly cast you line in the water and get the first bites!
From Tuesday to Saturday you can fish in the river as much as you can stand. On Saturday we go back to Kangerlussuaq to spend the last two nights in Old Camp.
Sunday we take a drive to the Inland Ice cap where you have the possibility to see, touch and even taste the ancient ice that is 100.000's years old.
The average weight for the trout in Robinson River is 1-2 kilos, but many fish in the 2-3 kilo class are caught and also some exceeding 5 kilos.
