It is the dream of almost every fisherman to catch a really huge fish. A fish that will fight so hard that the angler on the other end of the line will be pushed to his absolute limits.
Spending hours under the unforgiving glare of the sun struggling with one of the tropical ocean's wildest fighters sounds almost like a form of punishment. But when one of the sea's mighty big game fish finally submits, and the fish of your dreams breaks surface at the side of the boat, all the hard work if forgotten and you will already be looking forward to your next battle with such a fish.
It is a fact that the seas off the coast of East Africa offer some of the world's best big game fishing. The fact that Hemmingway chose to fish off Kenya's coasts on numerous occasions can be seen as the ultimate seal of approval for this destination.
A real adventure awaits you in Kenya. Many billfish swim in these waters: black, blue and striped marlin, sailfish and broadbiled swordfish can all be caught here. Tuna, wahoo, barracuda, giant trevally and dorado also feature in the catch, fish that set the pulse of a big game fisherman racing. It is also possible to fish for really big sharks such as makos, hammerheads and tigers. Back on land it is possible to experience Afica's wonderful wildlife close up, by joining a photo safari. Elephants, lions and Zebras are just a few of the animals that you can meet in Kenya's national parks. Add on the chance just to relax at a wonderful beach resort, with swimming pool, first class service and excellent cuisine, and then you can see that Kenya is as close as it gets to paradise on earth.
Kenya is one of our bespoke destinations; your tour will be tailored to precisely fit your wishes of how your tour should be. We have chosen to base our fishing tours in the town of Shimoni, which lies close to the Tanzanian border in southern Kenya. The hotel/camp lies directly on the coast, and you can choose between staying in a hotel room or a safari tent.
The fishing is from well equipped 46 foot boats, and using top quality fishing tackle. We work with the regions best skippers, Pat and Simon, who between them have more than 60 years experience of fishing these waters. In 2002 - 2004 Simon and his boat caught, tagged and released more marlin than any other skipper in the world! The service onboard is second to none, and it is uppermost in the mind's of the two skippers that their guests are given a great experience as well as catch alot of fish. Catch and release is the rule here, but it is possible to keep some of the smaller species caught, and take them back to the hotel to be prepared for dinner. If a marlin is in very poor condition after being caught, and it is evaluated that the fish will not survive after being released, then it will be taken ashore and sold. Any money raised in this way is donated, in its entirety, to local development projects.
The two boats we work with have space for a maximum of 4 anglers per boat. . All tackle and baits is included, and fishing usually take place with a spread of eight rods, fished on down- and outriggers. A fishing day usually lasts around 9 hours, and a sandwich lunch and drinks are included on board. If you wish to enjoy the ultimate big game experience, we recommend fishing with just one other angler. Naturally this is more expensive, but less time is spent waiting for your next oppertunity to fight a fish.

Destination facts:
You can fly to Mombassa via Amsterdam.
Simoni is only around one and a half hours driving from Mombassa.
You will be met at the airport and driven directly to the hotel.
The boats skipper, or mate, will collect you from the hotel in the morning and return you there after the days fishing has ended.
Lunch and drinks (beer and soft drinks) are included whilst fishing.
Please be aware that the seas can be rough.
