Iceland -Brown Trout

Akureyri
Imagine standing in the midst of some of the most spectacular surroundings on earth: volcanos, barren plains and endless mountains, as you play one big, hard fighting trout after another.... It sounds like pure fantasy, but you can experience just this in Iceland, the land of the sagas.
The angling
We have chosen not to arrange group tours to Iceland because here we only use a single guide, who can take a maximum of 4 anglers at a time.
This means that our guests will receive the best possible guiding and instruction, and have a thoroughly enjoyable experience from the start of the tour to the finish.
We fish select rivers in northern Iceland, close to the town of Akureyri. Two of these rivers have particularly captured our imagination as they both offer totally unique fly-fishing for trophy-sized trout.
These rivers run crystal clear and have a constant temperature of around 12o C throughout the year. This is possible because these rivers spring from an underground source, the temperature of which never changes. Because of this the river's insect life is active throughout the year, and thus the fish in these rivers can also feed throughout the year. So it follows quite simply that there are many good trout in these rivers!
You can fish with both wet and dry flies in these rivers, and you should bear in mind that here it is possible for even inexperienced anglers to land good fish if they follow the advice of the guide.
To be able to offer this destination, which is truly is something for the connoisseur, Atlantik Travel is working in partnership with one of the Icelandic angling scene's grand old men.
